JAKARTA - Fast charging of electric vehicles allows vehicle owners to charge batteries in a shorter time. This is crucial especially at certain times, such as when traveling long distances, holidays, or when an emergency situation occurs. With fast charging, the mobility of electric vehicles can be maintained optimally without having to wait too long at the charging station.

Then what if it turns out that this battery charging can be accelerated again? UK-based company WAE Technologies may have found a solution with its latest software called Elysia. According to the company, the system uses a smart charging algorithm to unlock the improvement of EV battery performance while increasing battery life by up to 30 percent.

"To protect battery life, electric cars are currently leaving the plant with a series of predetermined parameters governing their performance, including how quickly they can be filled quickly," said Joe Jones, Elysia's Commercial Leader, quoted from Carbuzz, July 23.

With claims from the company, Elysia's software can produce more efficient use of fast chargers. Thus, this makes it easier for consumers to use their electric vehicles without worrying.

Elysia's software contains a collection of battery management algorithms that are claimed to accelerate the charging time of electric vehicles by 25%. This can save electric vehicle owners about 10 minutes when using fast chargers, which can be very meaningful, especially during holidays or this summer when many people travel.

Currently, only a few mass market electric vehicle models support fast charging, one of which is Kia EV6, which can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes. However, with Elysia, this electric crossover should be fully charged in just eight minutes.

The same model from Hyundai, namely Ioniq 5, is also expected to have the same charging capability considering that both of them use the 800-volt electric vehicle architecture from Hyundai Motor Company.

"By reducing the time spent at the fast charger by 10 minutes for electric cars, the benefits are twofold: electric car owners are more satisfied and the use of fast charging networks is more efficient," concluded Jones.
