Wanting To Land In Indonesia, MG HS PHEV Kena Recall In Australia

JAKARTA - British automotive company Morris Garage (MG) announced the recall of flagship SUV models, MG HS PHEV and MG HS+ EV for Australian territory.

The trigger for the recall was caused by the two models which had the potential to cause a fire. The manufacturer will attract 5,168 vehicles produced from February 1, 2021, to March 21, 2023.

SAIC as the parent company of MG, revealed that there was a production flaw in the rubber layer placed between the nuts and poles that could cause a fire in the interior.

"Due to production defects, carpet layers may be placed between the nuts and electric retaining poles. If the nuts are released in their lifetime due to vibrations, it can cause the cables under the floor to experience excessive heat and can cause fires in the interior," SAIC Motor Corp wrote in an official statement quoted from news.com, Thursday, May 4.

For prevention efforts, the SUV was withdrawn for repairs. Affected car owners will be contacted and free of charge.

Despite problems with his car, MG has yet to receive a report regarding this issue resulting in an incident resulting in casualties in Australia.

In the near future, MG HS PHEV will be launched for the Indonesian market, after previously this SUV was introduced to its gasoline version model last year.

Carrying hybrid technology, HS PHEV uses 1,499 cc gasoline engines combined with electric motors.

The gasoline engine can produce 159 dk of power and 250 Nm of torque. While the electric motor can be racing against 120 dk of power and 230 Nm of torque, which in total becomes 279 dk and a maximum torque of 480 Nm.
