Provincial Government Opposes Ministry Of Religion Data On Capital City Which Is Said To Be Incompatible

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan responded to the results of the 2019 Religious Harmony Index (KUB) report from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag). Anies will cross-check the results of the study.

It is recorded that the harmony index in DKI Jakarta is at a score of 71.3 from the 0-100 score range. This figure is below the national scale average of 73.83.

Anies does not want the public to immediately speculate by seeing Jakarta as an area with a lower tolerance value than other provinces. Therefore, he mandated the DKI Jakarta Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) to cross-check the results of the study from the Ministry of Religion.

"I asked FKUB to conduct a study on yesterday's results. Then, look at it, report it to us. So it's that simple," said Anies at City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Thursday, December 12.

The reason Anies asked the DKI FKUB to review the Ministry of Religion's report was because this religious forum has a complete management structure, starting from the chairperson and representatives of religious figures to the community level.

"So, not speculations. But indeed a forum that deals with the name FKUB, Forum for Religious Harmony. So from there we will see what the results will be," he said.

For information, the survey on the results of the Ministry of Religion's KUB Index was conducted on 16 May-19 May 2019 and 18-24 June 2019. The number of respondents was 13,600 and spread across 34 provinces with tiered random sampling. The survey margin of error is approximately 4.8 percent.

As a result, the national average KUB score is at 73.83 percent or it is in the "Rukun Tinggi" category. This figure is an increase compared to the results obtained last year, namely 70.90 percent.

"But it is still low when compared to the 2015 index figure, which is 75.36," said Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi, launching the official website of the Ministry of Religion.

Provinces with a KUB Index score below the national average are DKI Jakarta (71.3), East Java (73.7), East Kalimantan (73.6), Gorontalo (73.2), Bangka Belitung Islands (73.1 ), Lampung (73.1), Riau Islands (72.8), North Maluku (72.7), South Kalimantan (72.5), South Sumatra (72.4), Bengkulu (71.8), Jambi ( 70.7), West Nusa Tenggara (70.4), Riau (69.3), Banten (68.9), West Java (68.5), West Sumatra (64.4), and Aceh (60.2 ).
