MPU: Don't Provoke The Community To Reject Rohingya Refugees In Aceh

BANDA ACEH - The Ulama Consultative Council (MPU) or MUI of Aceh Province asked all parties not to provoke the community to reject the landing of Rohingya Muslim immigrants who entered Tanah Rencong. "We ask all parties not to provoke the community to refuse (the Rohingya refugees)," said Aceh MPU Chairman Tgk Faisal Ali in Banda Aceh, Antara, Monday, November 20. His party has said that Aceh has a moral obligation to accept the Rohingya. However, so far it is suspected that there are parties who provoke the community. "The only problem is that there are parties who provoke the community. So the community doesn't have any problem," said the chairman of the Aceh PWNU. Lem Faisal said the Aceh MPU asked for the seriousness and attention of the central government regarding the handling of the Rohingya because the refugee case had repeatedly occurred in Aceh. "The central government needs to pay attention, solution or help the Aceh government, don't just let Rohingya refugees go away. Don't close your eyes on the Rohingya problem that was stranded in Aceh," he said. Lem Faisal also appealed to all parties to provide services and assistance to these Muslim immigrants. "Receive them well first, the problem after that can be discussed again," he said. He also hopes that the central government will be serious in accordance with the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) regarding existing foreign refugees so as not to allow people to act naturally like that in terms of handling Rohing Muslims. In the past week, five waves of Rohingya Muslim refugees visited Aceh, namely three ships in the Pidie Regency area, one ship in Bireuen and one ship in East Aceh.

The arrival of the last ship carrying 249 immigrants in the Bireuen Jangka area on Thursday (16/11) was rejected by residents. Then they moved to the coast of North Aceh, and also received rejection after being given food and clothes. Furthermore, secretly the immigrants on Sunday (19/11) in the early hours of the morning at around 02.00 WIB they landed in the area where the West Lapang fish (TPI) was landing, Gandapura District, Bireuen Regency.
