Speaker Of The House Of Representatives And MiKTA Meets President Jokowi To Discuss Peace In Gaza

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, together with four chairmen of the MIKTA parliament (Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia) met with President Jokowi to discuss various international issues, especially fighting for peace in Gaza.

"How do we in this MIKTA trial encourage the opening of humanitarian corridors and continue to fight for independence in Palestine," said Puan as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 20.

In addition, Puan together with the chairmen of the MIKTA parliament also discussed the issue of climate change and the global economy with Jokowi.

"We also talked about climate change, as well as about matters related to the economy which are currently in a situation that is not good enough in the international world or in other countries," continued Puan.

Therefore, the MiMIKTA Speakers' 9th Consultation will produce a joint statement or joint statement to support peace in Palestine and strengthen global economic cooperation.

"Whatever happens, MIKTA as one of the forums can support what is supported or done, synergize with the things that are done by the government in these MIKTA countries," explained Puan.

The 9th Mikta Speaker's Consultation was held at the Kempinski Hotel, Central Jakarta, Jakarta, Monday, as a consulatative meeting forum between the chairmen of the MIKTA parliament.

Before opening the forum, Puan held a bilateral meeting with each MPMIKTA chairman to call on MIKTA, as a medium-strength country, to support peace efforts in Palestine.

"In particular, I convey that the Israeli attack on Gaza can be stopped immediately and a ceasefire will be carried out immediately. We need to immediately resolve the root of the problem, namely the occupation of Israel in Palestine," said Puan.

In a number of bilateral meetings, Puan also encouraged MIKTA to participate in voicing the agreement on a two-state or two-state resolution solution in the Israeli and Palestinian conflicts.

He also invited the MIKTA state to provide humanitarian assistance to the people who are victims of war.

"We are seeing a war in Gaza that has caused a humanitarian crisis that has left many victims of children and women, including the latest an Israeli attack on Al-Shifa hospitals," said Puan.
