In APEC, President Xi Jinping Calls China The Focus Of Peaceful Development

JAKARTA - President Xi Jinping said China remains committed to carrying out peaceful development that focuses on improving the lives of its people, and not to shift the position of any country.

"China will remain committed to the path of peaceful development. The main goal of China's development is to improve people's lives, not to shift anyone," President Xi Jinping said at the 30th Summit of APEC economic leaders in San Francisco, United States on Friday (17/11). according to a written statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 18.

In the statement, it was conveyed that China was modernizing the main goal of building a big country and rejuvenating the country in all lines.

"China's modernization will bring greater opportunities for the world to modernize in all countries. I am ready to work with you to achieve new success in Asia-Pacific and welcome the next '30 golden years' in the region," Xi said.

President Xi quoted the ancient Chinese saying "For the sake of the right goal, I will continue to move forward, not afraid by the thousands of people who hinder me", he also invited APEC members to remain committed to the initial mission of establishing APEC.

"We must respond to the demands of the times and face global challenges together. We must fully realize Putrajaya Vision to build an open, dynamic, resilient and peaceful Asian-Pacific community for the welfare of all people and future generations," added President Xi.

He also proposed four principles, namely firstly being committed to development driven by innovation. This means that following the trend of advances in science and technology (science and technology), it is more proactive in encouraging exchange and cooperation in science and technology and is not discriminatory about the advancement of science and technology.

Second, remain committed to openness in development. President Xi requested that APEC members continue to trade freely, invest without obstacles and support and strengthen the multilateral trade regime centered on the WTO and keep the global supply chain open and stable.

Third, committed to green development. The trick is to accelerate the transition to low-carbon environmentally friendly development and ensure that carbon emission reduction and pollution mitigation run hand in hand.

Fourth, China invites to commit to inclusive development that provides benefits for all.

"I have said on many occasions that actual development is a development for all. We must fully implement the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Agenda, and restore development into the international agenda as a top priority," Xi said.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a cooperation forum between 21 economic entities in the Pacific Ocean ring which was founded in 1989.

APEC members are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong-China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Peru, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.

Cooperation in APEC is a non-political cooperation, characterized by membership of Hong Kong and Taiwan. APEC members are called "economics" considering that each member interacts with each other as an economic entity, and not as a country.

APEC's main goal is contained in APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040's long-term vision document, which was agreed in 2020. This vision replaces Bogor Goals which has been APEC's long-term vision since 1994.
