Source Of Profit After Coldplay Concert, Ojol Drivers Gather to Turn Off Application

JAKARTA – The end of the Coldplay concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) Senayan, Central Jakarta has become a source of income for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers. This is because many Coldplay concert goers chose to ride motorbikes instead of cars, due to the traffic jam that occurred around Senayan, Wednesday, November 15.

There are interesting things that are highlighted. Some ojol drivers actually turn off the application to get passengers. Why?

To maintain his privacy, this motorbike taxi driver's name with initial SM. He revealed the reason why the application was turned off when there was a crowd in downtown Jakarta.

According to SM, accepting passengers via the application at the end of a busy music event, such as a Coldplay concert, will have lower price.

“The price is really cheap. For example, the price is IDR 12 thousand (the price of the application), I don't want it. I asked for IDR 50 thousand," said SM to VOI at SUGBK, Wednesday evening, November 15.

SM added that another consideration is the very long traffic jams.

"Not to mention if there's traffic jam. That's why I don't want via application," he said.

SM also said that another way without turning off the application is to negotiate outside of automatic billing.

This means that initially he gets passengers through the application, but when he meets the passengers, he negotiates the price.

“So initially we just kept using the application. When we meet, we'll tell you the price. If you agree, then it's a deal," said SM.

Indeed, the traffic jam around Senayan when the Coldplay concert ended was quite long. The road was crowded with vehicles, from various directions. This condition is of course very much complained about by many parties. One of them was a motorcycle taxi driver who apparently used the moment of Coldplay concert as a source of additional income.
