PBNU Deactivates NU Management To Become Candidates And Teams For Winning The 2024 Presidential Election Candidates

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatu Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board has decided to deactivate the NU management who is running as a legislative candidate (caleg) has been included in the Permanent Candidate List (DCT) and is involved in the winning team for the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs (paslon) for the 2024 General Election.

This is stated in letter number 1201/PB.01/A.1.03.08/99/11/2023 dated Wednesday 15 November. The letter contains guidelines for residents and especially NU administrators at all levels involved in participating in the 2024 General Election.

"So that all Nahdlatul Ulama residents and administrators at all levels make the "Nine Guidelines for Political, NU Citizens" decided at the 28th NU Congress in 1989 at the AlMunawwir Islamic Boarding School, Krapyak Yogyakarta as the basis for carrying out their respective political activities," wrote the PBNU letter.

As part of the implementation of the "Nine Guidelines for NU Citizens Politics", the Syuriyah Daily Meeting and PBNU Tanfidziyah ang will be held on Tuesday, November 14, deciding on five things as follows:

1. All NU administrators and NU association officials at all levels of management and leadership of the Nahdlatul Ulama Education Institute/Universary who are included in the DCT members of the DPR, DPD, Provincial DPRD, Regency/City DPRD, have automatically been declared inactive since the date of the determination of the DCT in question.

2. All NU administrators and NU association officials at all levels of management and leaders of NU Educational/Universary Institutions who are included in the Working Team for Winning Presidential/Vice Presidential Candidates of the Republic of Indonesia are automatically declared inactive from the date of determination by each Presidential/Vice Presidential Candidate Winning Team.

3. In the event that the administrators who are included in the DCT as referred to in the number 1 above are, Rais or Chair, then the provisions of Article 51 Paragraph (4), (5), (6), and (7) of the Nahdlatul Ulama Household Budget, which have been further regulated in the Regulation of the NU Association Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Handling of Positions as amended by the Regulation of the NU Association Number 10 of 2023 concerning Handling.

4. The mechanism for deactivating the management and delegating the function of the management's position as referred to and dismissal of the management as referred to above refers to the Regulation of the NU Association Number 11 of 2023 concerning Dismissal of Management, Substitution of Inter-Time Management, and Delegation of Position Functions.

5. Provisions regarding the inactive period are valid until the implementation of the General Election of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, DPR, DPD, Provincial DPRD, and Regency/City DPRD.

In the letter, PBNU also assigned all Chairmen of the PBNU Special Institutions and Agencys, General Chairperson of the Central Level Autonomous Agency, Chairman of the NU Regional Management, Chairman of the NU Branch Management, and Chairman of the NU Special Branch Management to follow up on the decisions as referred to in the five things above.

"According to applicable regulations and submitting a written report to PBNU no later than November 30, 2023," said the PBNU letter.

This letter was signed by Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar, Katib Aam PBNU KH Akhmad Said Asrori, General Chairperson of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, and Secretary General of PBNU H Saifullah Yusuf.
