Jusuf Kalla Will Choose The 2024 Presidential Election Paslon Who Loves The Mosque

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) 10 and 12 RI as well as Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) Jusuf Kalla emphasized that he would choose a candidate pair (paslon) for presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election who love mosques.

He said this when delivering his remarks at the 2023 DMI Award Award Award Night at the Auditorium of Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya (Unusa), East Java, Tuesday, November 14 evening.

"I emphasize that DMI should not campaign and mosques should not be used as campaigns, but when I am asked personally, yes, it's simple, choose those who love mosques more," said Jusuf Kalla as written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 15, quoted by Antara.

In his remarks, Jusuf Kalla also told a unique phenomenon ahead of the general election (election), especially in East Java, that the candidates are usually diligent in going to the province to sowan to the kiai.

"That's why there are jokes when we have been busy visiting the kiai, that means it's near the election, yes," said Jusuf Kalla, greeted by laughter from the invitees who attended.

In addition, Jusuf Kalla also highlighted the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansah because all presidential candidates were visited and offered to become vice presidential candidates.

However, Khofifah was not tempted by the offer. According to Jusuf Kalla, Khofifah's attitude shows his love for the province he leads.

"There was one person who was visited by everyone to be invited by a couple but did not want to. It was Mrs. Khofifah. That means she loves East Java more," he added.

It is known that the General Elections Commission (KPU) has determined that the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair will receive number one, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number two, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md number three.

The determination was based on the results of the draw for the serial number of the presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election which was held at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (14/11) night.

"Thus, the serial number of presidential-vice presidential candidate pairs for the 2024 election is as follows, number one for candidate pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, number two for candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, number three for candidate pair Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md," said KPU RI Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari.

The Anies-Muhaimin pair were promoted by the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummah Party.

The Ganjar-Mahfud pair was promoted by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).

Meanwhile, the Prabowo-Gibran pair was promoted by the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golkar Party (Golkar), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Garda Party of the Republic of Indonesia (Garuda), and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), as well as the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (Prima) who did not qualify to participate in the 2024 General Election.
