JAKARTA - General (Ret.) TNI Andika Perkasa believes General Agus Subiyanto remains neutral as TNI Commander. The deputy chairman of the Ganjar-Mahfud MD National Winning Team (TPN) admitted that he had known him for a long time with a figure who had just undergone a fit and proper test today, Monday, November 13.
"I know Pak Agus well, so I am sure that Pak Agus will carry out the tasks that are indeed charged on his shoulders as TNI Commander as well as possible," Andika told reporters at the TPN Media Center Ganjar-Mahfud MD, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 13.
Andika believes that the TNI will carry out its duties according to the rules when led by Agus. He also did not want to talk much about the election of the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) as the TNI Commander.
Even so, he still reminded Agus to strictly maintain the neutrality of the TNI during the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
Moreover, Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI has prohibited soldiers from supporting certain figures or groups.
"We are now carrying out our respective duties and I am sure that the TNI will remain on track under the leadership of General Agus," said Andika.
As previously reported, Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives approved General TNI Agus Subiyanto as a candidate for TNI Commander after undergoing a fit and proper test. His approval will be ratified at the DPR Plenary Meeting on November 21.
Agus is the sole candidate for the TNI Commander in Chief to replace Admiral Yudo Margono who will enter retirement. When appointed, he was just appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) on October 25, 2023.
