Considered Anies' Spokesperson For Ethical Defect, Gibran's Candidacy Is Called A Political Burden

Spokesperson for Anies Baswedan, Andi Sinulingga considers the nomination of the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a candidate for vice president (cawapres) of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) for ethical defects. The reason is that the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) has decided to dismiss Anwar Usman as chairman of the Constitutional Court because he was proven to have committed ethical violations in the trial of the decision on the minimum age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates, who are suspected of passing Gibran to become the vice presidential candidate accompanying Prabowo Subianto.

"In my opinion, logically, the decision taken through an incorrect process means that the decision is also problematic," said Andi at the Populi Center office, Mampang Prapatan, Jakarta, Thursday, November 9.

"In my logic, at least I think public logic is the same, this is a process taken from wrong steps," he continued.

Andi said, legally the Constitutional Court's decision which allows people under 40 years of advanced presidential or vice presidential candidates with the exception that they have or are in office, including regional heads, cannot be contested and are final.

However, Andi said, the decision was considered disturbing the public's view because it paved the way for even the'red carpet' for President Jokowi's eldest son to fight in the 2024 presidential election contestation.

"Well, because of that, just let it run, where is the jurisdiction, where is the perception area," he said.

Nevertheless, Andi believes, Gibran's candidacy, which seems 'forcing', will continue to be a political burden. Especially if he wins in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

"(Gibran, red) will be a burden, and the public will continue to question it. My belief is yes," said Andi.

"But I also don't know this, people have different beliefs. But my belief can still be a question," he added.
