JAKARTA - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin hopes that in the future the Constitutional Court (MK) can be better, there will be no more turmoil from the resulting decision.
"Yes, we hope that in the future, of course, the Constitutional Court will be better, in accordance with the expectations of the community, so that there will be no more turmoil, problems that will be decided by the Constitutional Court which will be crucial in the future," said Ma’ruf after attending the National Coordination Meeting and Submission of Fiscal Incentives for the Regulation on the Elimination of Extreme Poverty in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, November 9.
Ma’ruf said hopefully there will be no more noise from the Constitutional Court's decision. He entrusted the Constitutional Court to provide better performance.
"Yes, we leave it to the Constitutional Court problem, the important thing is not to make a fuss. I think so. So it's better," said Ma’ruf.
The Constitutional Court on Thursday already has a new chairman. Judge Suhartoyo was elected as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court replacing Anwar Usman who was sentenced to dismissal from office by the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK).
"What was agreed to be the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court in the future was Mr. Suhartoyo, and I am still carrying out my duties as deputy chairman," said Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Saldi Isra at the Constitutional Court Building RI, Jakarta, Thursday.
Anwar Usman was sentenced to dismissal from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court for being proven to have committed a serious violation of Sapta Karsa Hutama while adjudicating Case Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 regarding the age requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates.
Anwar Usman was declared to have violated the Principles of Disadvantage, Principles of Integrity, Principles of Equality and Equality, Principles of Independence, and Principles of Rights and Politeness.
Anwar also stated that the MKMK did not have the right to nominate or be nominated as the leader of the Constitutional Court until his term as a constitutional judge ended.
In addition, Anwar is also not allowed to engage or involve himself in the examination of disputes over the results of the upcoming general election.
The Constitutional Court's decision against Anwar was in the aftermath of 21 reports regarding violations of the judge's code of ethics that went to the Constitutional Court. The report was triggered by the Constitutional Court's decision which granted part of Case Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 submitted by an Indonesian citizen named Almas Tsaqibbirru Re A. from Surakarta, Central Java.
Because of the decision on Case Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023, Article 169 letter q of the Election Law has changed to full: "The lowest age is 40 years or has been / is currently in the position chosen through general elections including regional head elections.
