Receiving A Visit From Minister Tobias Lindner, KSP Moeldoko Discusses Indonesian-German Cooperation

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko appreciated the positive developments in the context of diplomatic relations between Germany and Indonesia which have reached 71 years. This was said by Moeldoko when receiving an honorary visit of the Minister of State of the Federal Republic of Germany, Tobias Lindner and a delegation from the German Embassy in Jakarta at the Bina Graha Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 8. Moeldoko also emphasized the German support in completing the Indonesia-European Negotiation of the Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA). Where the agreement for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership of Indonesia and the European Union is considered important in creating regulations mutually agreed upon in trading competition in the European market. In addition, the agreement also has the potential to drive national economic growth, create new jobs, and can create opportunities for small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). I am of the view that this cooperation is already on the right track, especially in the field of energy transition, environment, downstream and electric cars," said Moeldoko. Regarding investment, Moeldoko welcomed German investment in Indonesia which focused on priority sectors such as industries related to exports to the industrial ecosystem of electric vehicles (EVs). Especially, in mineral commodities strategies that are still potentially large for investment. Demand and supply for electric vehicles are still incommensurate, of course this could be a good opportunity for German investment in Indonesia,'' he said. In the economic field, said Moeldoko, Germany is Indonesia's main trading partner in Europe, where in 2023 Germany's investment reached 117.820.2 million USD which was summarized in 1,156 projects. This makes Germany the 3rd largest order European that made investments in Indonesia in 2023. Denoting 71 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia-Germany, we can be seen that we open a wide range of potential for good cooperation, especially in order to increase domestic productivity and human resources,'', said Moeldoko. Meanwhile, the Minister of the State of the Federal Republic of Germany, Tobias Lindner mentioned its presence this time to demonstrate the commitment of German cooperation and Indonesia, especially in the sustainable development field.

He added that support from both parties is the main asset in strengthening the relationship that has been built constructively and based on the fundamental values equations owned by the two countries. "We guarantee that we have the same interests and we are happy to work with Indonesia, for the IEU-CEPA we will see what support we can provide for Indonesia. Of course, our first visit here will not be the last visit." Lindner said.
