As'adiyah Islamic Boarding School Prepares 100 Hectares Of Food Support For South Sulawesi

The As'adiyah Sengkang Islamic Boarding School has prepared 100 hectares of land specifically for agriculture and livestock, as an effort to support food security in South Sulawesi.

General Chairperson of the As'adiyah Sengkang Islamic Boarding School Center and Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Prof KH Nasaruddin Umar in his statement in Makassar, Saturday, said that this land will be planted with cavendish bananas, other types of bananas and nationals.

Meanwhile, livestock itself will be developed by cattle and buffalo. This is an effort for resilience in South Sulawesi.

"We will see this span of 100 hectares. God willing, in the next three months you will see the face of 100 hectares will be green," said Prof Nasaruddin Umar as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 4.

He expressed his gratitude to the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar Bahharuddin for his attention to the world of agriculture, livestock and specifically to the As'adiyah Sengkang Islamic Boarding School.

"We are grateful to the Acting Governor for paying very special attention to our pesantren," he said.

According to him, the presence of the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi at the As'adiyah Islamic Boarding School was extraordinary. This is because the expanse of land around the Islamic boarding school will be greened with cavendish banana and pineapple plants.

"The presence of the Governor here is extraordinary, because here we will be greened with bananas with chilies and pineapple and will also follow the farm. And if this happens, then we will become Islamic boarding schools in Eastern Indonesia that can be comprehensive, in addition to theoretical knowledge there is also tactical science," he said.

He also expressed his gratitude for the Regent of Wajo Amran Mahmud and members of the South Sulawesi DPRD Andi Ansari Mangkona and Henny Latif who helped strengthen the programs of the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar Baharuddin admitted that he was present in Wajo Regency in addition to planting bananas, pineapple and chilies, as well as harvesting chili in Loa Village, Tana Sitolo Glasses, Wajo Regency.

"So we are both here. So the series of activities one to the As' Islamic boarding school has been the largest Islamic boarding school in Eastern Indonesia since 1930. In the pesantren, we will also support livestock and agriculture areas, especially banana cultivation, and maybe jackfruit, pineapple and others," he explained.
