President Releases Humanitarian Aid For Palestinian Citizens In Gaza

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) released the delivery of humanitarian aid from the Government to Palestinians in Gaza, including in the form of medical devices and food weighing a total of 51.5 tons.

"Alhamdulillah, Indonesia's assistance for Palestine will soon be dispatched to El Arish Mesir Airport and forwarded to Gaza," Jokowi said during the agenda for releasing aid deliveries at the Air Base Operations (Lanud) of the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force, East Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 4.

He said the assistance in the form of foodstuffs, medical equipment, blankets, tents, and other logistics items weighing a total of 51.5 tons was the first stage of aid sent by the Indonesian government to Gaza.

He said the assistance was transported using three aircraft, including two C-130 Hercules aircraft numbered A-1327 and A-1328 from the 31st Air Squadron and 32 Indonesian Air Squadron, as well as one chartered BOing 737 Garuda Indonesia aircraft.

He said the assistance was not only from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, but also the people of the business world who were channeled through humanitarian institutions, such as Baznas, PMI, and Kita Bisa.

"This is a form of Indonesian solidarity, a form of the Indonesian nation's concern for humanity, because the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza is unacceptable must be stopped as soon as possible," he said.

Jokowi reiterated that Indonesia will continue to be together in the struggle of the Palestinians.

The release of aid shipments was witnessed by the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al Shun.

Also accompanying President Jokowi, including Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, and Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, TNI Commander Yudo Margono, and Army Chief of Staff General Agus Subiyanto.
