JAKARTA - Member of the PDIP faction of the DPR RI Masinton Pasaribu, confirmed that the proposed right of inquiry to the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the terms of age for presidential and vice-presidential candidates will continue.

"Bismillah, (the Court's inquiry right, red) is still running," Masinton told reporters, Friday, November 3.

According to Masinton, every member of the DPR is guaranteed their constitutional right to express opinions, including applying for the right of inquiry. This, he said, is regulated in Article 20A of the 1945 Constitution concerning the functions and rights of the DPR.

"The right of interpellation, the right of inquiry and the right to express opinions is the constitutional right of the DPR RI whose procedure is proposed by members of the DPR RI," explained the PDIP legislator for the DKI Jakarta electoral district.

Currently, continued Masinton, the process of submitting the Constitutional Court's right to inquiry is still being pursued. He also asked all parties to be patient.

"Yes, next week the progress will be informed," said Masinton.

Previously, Masinton Pasaribu suggested that the DPR use the right of inquiry to the Constitutional Court (MK) following a decision that changed the requirements to become a presidential and vice presidential candidate in the interruption at the 8th DPR RI Plenary Meeting for the second trial period of the 2023-2024 Session Year, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 31.

"We must exercise the constitutional rights owned by the DPR. The chairwoman, I am Masinton Pasaribu, a member of the DPR RI from the DKI Jakarta electoral district, using my constitutional rights to apply for the right of inquiry to the constitutional court," said Masinton.

It is known that the Constitutional Court changed the rules for advancing presidential and vice-presidential candidates which are contained in the Election Law. Initially, the minimum age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates was 40 years. However, the MK in its decision changed the requirements for presidential and vice-presidential candidates to a minimum of 40 years old or once/currently serving as regional heads.

On this decision, the eldest son of President Jokowi and Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, was promoted by parties from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) to be able to run as vice presidential candidate to accompany Prabowo Subianto.
