Anticipating Floods, Tangerang City Government Prepares 267 Water Pumps

TANGERANG - The Tangerang City Government (Pemkot) through the Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (PUPR) has prepared strategic steps to anticipate the potential for flooding in Tangerang City.

Referring to the estimates of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) that the rainy season will begin to enter Tangerang City this November.

Head of the Tangerang City PUPR Service, Ruta Ireng Wicaksono said, the Tangerang City PUPR Service has now prepared various special approaches to anticipate flooding in Tangerang City.

One of them, the PUPR Service has prepared 267 flood control pumps that are ready to operate throughout the area in Tangerang City.

"We are currently preparing various flood control infrastructures in Tangerang City. Including preparing 267 flood control pumps that are ready to be used in various regions if they are deemed in need," said Head of the Tangerang City PUPR Service, Ruta Ireng Wicaksono in a written statement, Friday, November 3.

He added that the Tangerang City PUPR Service has also prepared other strategic steps to help the role of 233 flood control pumps. For example, the Tangerang City PUPR Service has now alerted field teams spread across 13 sub-districts in Tangerang City. He continued, this field team will be at the forefront to respond to conditions in the field, including if there will be flooding in various regions.

"Not only coordinating the field team that has been alerted, we are also working with regional apparatus to start mapping, planning, and preparing steps to anticipate the potential for flooding in Tangerang City," he added.

In addition, the Tangerang City PUPR Service also seems to be focusing on completing the readiness of other infrastructure, such as development, speech, and maintenance of waterways, drainage, sheet piles, floodgates, etc.
