Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD gave a response to the planned right of inquiry submitted by members of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).

Mahfud also answered the lobbying issue carried out by eight Constitutional Court Judges in the decision regarding the minimum age limit for presidential candidates (candidates) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres).

Mahfud invited the DPR to apply for the right of inquiry to the Constitutional Court. "It's up to the DPR, I can't comment on what the DPR wants to do. Go ahead," Mahfud said in Makassar, Wednesday, November 1.

According to him, based on the rules, the right of inquiry is aimed at the government. However, he admitted that he was reluctant to interfere and still invited the DPR to apply for the right of inquiry.

Previously, the discourse on the right of inquiry to the Constitutional Court emerged after members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PKS faction, Mardani Ali Sera, and a member of the PDIP faction, Masinton Pasaribu, proposed that they be related to the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the age requirements for presidential-vice presidential candidates at least 40 years or those who have served as regional heads.

Mahfud also answered reporters' questions about the issue of lobbying carried out by the Constitutional Court judges on the decision on the minimum age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Mahfud invites the public to patiently wait and respect the results of the examination later. According to him, the confirmation of the decision of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) can place problems on the right proportion.

"Let the MKMK tell us what happened and what the punishment is, if necessary there will be punishment," he concluded.
