Urges President of Israel to be Dragged to International Criminal Court, MUI: He’s the Root of the Genocide Crime

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) calls on the entire world community to join in voicing demands that Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu go to the International Criminal Court for the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people.

"Benjamin Netanyahu is the culprit of the crime of genocide and humanitarian tragedy. For this reason, we must immediately take him to the international criminal court," said MUI Deputy Chairperson Anwar Abbas in a statement in Jakarta, Monday, October 30, as reported by Antara.

Genocide is known as the mass murder of a particular tribe or nation with the intention of exterminating it.

As a result of Israel's inhumane actions, he continued, up to now there are around 1.6 million people in Gaza who really need humanitarian assistance, especially pregnant women, children and the elderly.

Anwar said there are five major organizations under the United Nations (UN), namely the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Organization (WFP), the World Development Program (UNDP), and the UN Population Fund ( UNFPA), who voiced the same concerns regarding the current conditions in the Gaza Strip.

"Seeing the terrible situation experienced by the people of Gaza, all international human rights bodies are highlighting and paying full attention to the increasingly serious humanitarian crisis there. Moreover, Israel is also blocking food, water and electricity for civilians there." he said.

Anwar also explained that Al-Ahli Hospital, which is a center for aid and is very much needed by the people of Gaza, not only for treatment purposes but also as a place to evacuate, was also bombed and destroyed.

"As a result of Israel's actions, the number of victims killed has reached 4,651 people and around 14,254 people injured. Even in the West Bank area adjacent to Gaza, around 93 people have died. So this really is genocide," he said.

Anwar also called on the world community to help the Palestinian people, especially Hamas and Hezbollah forces, to eliminate crimes against humanity that have occurred for more than 75 years in Palestine.

"The world community must also try with all its might to help stop and eliminate the colonialism carried out by Israel against Palestine, because however, this colonialism was never in accordance with the values ​​of humanity and justice," he said.

He advised the world to be able to solve this problem together, so that Middle Eastern countries can return to safety, security and peace, in accordance with mutual expectations.
