JAKARTA - Golkar Party politician Nusron Wahid respects the women's political choice KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Yenny Wahid, supporting the future pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

"Yes, please, that's his choice, I respect it," said Nusron, quoted from Antara, Sunday, October 29.

However, he is optimistic that Prabowo Subianto will become president, which he said is in accordance with the statement of the late Gus Dur.

"God willing, Prabowo will be president in his old age, as stated by the late Gus Dur," he said.

He said that it was clear in various media and many witnesses that the late Gus Dur had said that Prabowo would become president in his old age.

In addition, he said, Gus Dur said that Prabowo was the most sincere person to the Indonesian people.

"That alone is enough to show Gus Dur's appreciation to Prabowo for his services and what he has given to this nation without any strings attached," he said.

The former General Chairperson of GP Ansor, said that NU residents, students, and Gus Dur cadres had made smart choices in this presidential election.

"Moreover, there are Prabowo, Gibran, and President Joko Widodo factors that we already know together what Prabowo-Gibran did, the spirit is to continue Gus Dur's struggle and thoughts. Plus there are Pak Jokowi factors that we know are close to the people," said Nusron, who is also the chairman of PBNU.

He is optimistic that the Prabowo, Gibran, and Jokowi factors make cadres heir to Gus Dur's thoughts make a choice for the Prabowo-Gibran pair.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has received registrations for three pairs of candidates for president and vice president for the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The three pairs of reading and vice presidents have also completed their health checks as one of the requirements for participating in the upcoming presidential election.
