Indonesia Supports The Latest UN Resolution On Gaza

JAKARTA - The UN General Assembly on Friday, October 27, approved a draft resolution calling for a "long-lasting and sustainable humanitarian ceasefire" immediately in Gaza. The draft resolution received 120 votes in support, with 14 votes rejecting and 45 others abstaining.

Responding to this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemlu RI) stated that Indonesia welcomes the ratification of the resolution of the UN General Assembly regarding the situation in Gaza.

"Indonesia welcomes the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution regarding the Protection of Civilians and the Respect of Law and Humanitarian Obligations in Gaza on October 27," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on platform X on Saturday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 28, also said that Indonesia is one of the co-sponsors of the UN resolution.

The UN resolution denounced "all acts of violence against Palestinian and Israeli civilians, including all acts of terror and indiscriminate attacks, as well as all acts of provocation, incitement and destruction."

The resolution also requested that "all parties immediately and fully comply with their obligations in that international law." The call for immediate and unconditional release of all civilians who were illegally held hostage" is also listed in the resolution.

The UN resolution also underscores the importance of preventing further destabilization and escalation of violence in the region.
