The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Ensures That No Indonesian Citizens Become Victims Of Mass Shootings In US Maine

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Indonesian citizens (WNI) have been victims of mass shootings in Maine, United States.

"The Indonesian Consulate General in New York has coordinated with local authorities and contacted the Indonesian community nodes around Maine. So far, no Indonesian citizens have been victims," said the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHI of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

Based on data from the Indonesian Consulate General in New York, only one Indonesian citizen lives in Maine.

"The Indonesian Consulate General in New York has conveyed an appeal for Indonesian citizens to increase their vigilance regarding the increase in armed violence in the United States," said Judha.

Mass shootings that took place at two locations at Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation Bowling Alley in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday (25/10) killed 22 people and injured about 50 people.

Local police have identified Robert R Card (40 years) as a suspect in this case and are pursuing the perpetrator.

"We are deploying hundreds of police working across the state of Maine to investigate this case to find Mr. Card, who is a suspect," Maine Public Security Commissioner Mike Sauschuck told a news conference.

Several media reported that Maine's law enforcement bulletin identified Cards as trained firearms instructors and US Army reserve army personnel who were recently reported to be suffering from mental health problems, including hearing voices.

The media also said Card had threatened to open fire on the National Guard base.
