Rejecting Abortion, Women In Surabaya Beaten By Girlfriend

SURABAYA - A woman in Surabaya with the initials AHS (21) was beaten by her boyfriend. AHS admitted that he was admitted by his girlfriend for refusing an abortion or aborting his pregnancy.

AHS, who was in a battered condition, was taken by residents to the Tanjung Perak Police Headquarters, Surabaya. He reported the incident of abuse.

"The first victim was found by residents, right under the Surabaya-Madura (Suramadu) Bridge. The victim has received medical treatment related to his injuries and we have asked for information," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanjung Perak Port Police, Iptu Muhammad Prasetyo, Monday 23 October.

"Reporting that the victim was pregnant, then asked for accountability, but his girlfriend refused and forced an abortion. The victim was then beaten," said Prasetyo.

To the police, AHS admitted that he had been abused by his girlfriend and friends. The abuse occurred because AHS refused to abort the baby he was carrying.

This case is still under investigation by the Tanjung Perak Surabaya Police.

"We are still investigating this case. Together with our search, we are related to a number of evidences, as well as the perpetrators, related witnesses," said Prasetyo.
