Entering The Republic Of Indonesia Illegally Allegedly Bringing PLN's Stolen Copper, 3 Timor Leste Residents Handed Over To Atambua Immigration

JAKARTA - The Belu Resort Police (Polres) arrested three Timorese people. The three of them entered Indonesia via Belu in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) illegally.

"There are three Timor Leste residents who entered illegally into Indonesia through the Belu Regency area," said Belu Police Chief, AKBP Richo Nataldo Devallas Simanjuntak in a statement, Monday, October 23, which was confiscated by Antara.

The three illegal Timor Leste wares are the initials MK (20), RIDC (26) and JK (21).

According to him, the three residents of Sekato, Oecusse District, Timor Leste, were detected illegally by members of police intelligence on Saturday, October 21.

The three of them crossed the Sone route, North Central Timor Regency (TTU), then continued their journey through Jenilu Village, Kakuluk District, Mesak.

"After receiving the information, intelligence members under the command of AIPDA Lucky moved to the location," said Richo.

Richo said, after the interrogation, the three Timorese residents admitted to entering Indonesia without official documents. The three were then secured from the Bintang Laut Warehouse, Jenilu Village, Kakuluk District, Mesak.

Richo added that the three Timor Leste residents admitted to selling copper allegedly stolen from PLN in the Oecusse area, Timor Leste.

"They admit that the copper comes from the remains of PLN Oecusse's cable. Two of the three illegal border crossers have entered Indonesia several times to sell this copper in the Roofupu Sea Star Warehouse at a price of around Rp. 80,000 per kilogram," he said.

Against the three Timor Leste residents, the police have handed it over to the TPI Atambua Immigration Class II for processing in accordance with Indonesian immigration laws.
