The Minister Of Communication And Information Expressed That The Task Of The Kominfo Cyber Patrol Is Breaking Access To The Spreader Of Slander For The 2024 Election On The Internet

Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that Kominfo has cyber patrols that monitor content containing hate speech, slander, and hoaxes on the internet for further termination of access.

The Minister of Communication and Information said, to create a secure and comfortable digital space, content moderation is carried out through clarifying facts aka hoax ranking against fake news, as well as terminating access or taking down sites and content that contain hoaxes along with digital platforms.

In addition, the Minister of Communication and Information ensures that the government takes firm action against these content to prevent divisions in society.

"This time we are firm because what we are discussing is our national unity," he said at the Army Territorial Center (Pusterad) Sarasehan with Mass Media in Cijantung, East Jakarta, Monday, October 23, which was confiscated by Antara.

On that occasion, the Minister of Communication and Information also invited all parties to maintain the healthyness of the digital space by avoiding divided narratives ahead of the 2024 General Election.

Budi stated that the 2024 election is a party for all Indonesian people, a party that is the pride of all parties, as well as a reflection of the maturity of the people in democracy.

"I want this election to have more debate on substantive and quality debates for the progress of the Indonesian nation," he said.

The Minister of Communication and Information explained that the message "Pemilu Damai 2024" is a joint effort in responding to various potential problems in the 2024 General Election. In addition to being intended to increase community participation, it is also to prevent divisions and spread of hoaxes.

According to him, the circulation of various political narratives on social media has the potential to cause chaos in information in the form of misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation.

"At Kominfo, we have agreed that there are three big problems that are of concern to us (during the election), the first is hoaxes, both slander, and the third is hate speech, this is the potential for social vulnerabilities to emerge," he said.

The Minister of Communication and Information said Indonesia needed to reflect on general elections in other countries whose implementation was disrupted due to the spread of disinformation in the community.

According to him, disinformation in elections can result in a loss of knowledge with popularity, a decrease in confidence in democracy and government institutions, political and social instability, limited access to factual information, to prolonged community polarization.

Therefore, the Minister of Communication and Information asked all parties, especially the TNI and mass media workers, to jointly amplify the narrative of "Pemilu Damai 2024".

"Collaboration can be carried out through the amplification of the narrative of the 2024 Peaceful Election on conventional social media and media, the synergy of Babinsa in socializing the 2024 Peace Election, as well as collaboration with the mass media in producing information and positive news related to the 2024 General Election," he said.
