Pickup Car Of Student Group Overturned In Cilacap, 1 Killed And 30 Injured

CILACAP - Traffic Unit (Satlantas) Officer of the Cilacap City Police (Polresta) investigated the cause of a single accident on Jalan Raya Kedungreja, Kedungreja Village, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, which killed a student, Sunday, October 22.

"The accident occurred this morning when a pickup car driven by AF was carrying a group of students from the Assangidiyah Islamic Boarding School to the Sidanegara Village Field, Kedungreja District, to participate in the National Santri Day ceremony," said Head of Cilacap Police Traffic Unit, Police Commissioner Nunung Farmadi, quoted by ANTARA, October 22.

Based on the results of the investigation and processing of the crime scene (TKP), he said, the accident was caused by a pickup truck with the number R-8377-MK coming from east to west traveling at high speed.

Arriving at Jalan Raya Kedungreja which entered the Kedungreja Village area RT 03/RW 07, Kedungreja District, the pickup car swayed until it finally rolled over.

"The car had a single accident. As a result of this incident, a female student died and 30 people were injured," he explained.

According to him, all the victims were taken to three health facilities consisting of the Kedungreja Health Center, Sidareja Health Center, and the Aghisna Medika Sidareja General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the deceased, known to have the initials IM (15), underwent treatment at the Aghisna Medika Sidareja General Hospital.

Kasatlantas emphasized that it is not true that the number of victims who died as a result of the accident was five people, such as information circulating through social media.

"Until now, we are still investigating the accident case by asking for information from the victims and witnesses. What is clear is that pickup cars are not allowed to transport people in excess," he said.
