Not Prioritizing The Call Of The Metro Police, Firli Is Considered To Be Hampering The Ex-Minister Of Agriculture SYL's Extortion Case

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo assessed that KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri was hampering the investigation into alleged extortion by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. This is because he chose to come to another agenda compared to fulfilling the summons of the Polda Metro Jaya.

"Firli should prioritize the call, not other activities," Yudi told reporters in a written statement, Friday, October 20.

"He is the Chairman of the KPK, he should obey the law and be a good role model, not show an attitude that hinders efforts to investigate corruption cases in the form of alleged extortion by the KPK leadership," he continued.

Yudi also questioned the attitude of the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, who put up a body for Firli. "This is very strange," he said.

According to Yudi, Firli should have appeared and stated clearly that he was not present. Because, this call is not intended for the KPK institutionally but for individuals.

"As a result, we don't know where Firli is at, even though Firli's testimony will open a Pandora's box for the process and the chronology of extortion that occurred," he said.

Not getting there, Yudi said Firli should have come to fulfill the call if he didn't feel wrong. Moreover, there is nothing to learn when he is not involved.

"Come if you feel right and convey the truth and honestly the facts that happened according to him before the investigators," said Yudi.

"The cooperative attitude of Firli Bahuri will be seen whether he will attend or not in the rescheduling of the examination by the Polda Metro Jaya," he continued.

As previously reported, Nurul Ghufron said Firli Bahuri could not fulfill the summons of the Polda Metro Jaya because there was another agenda and was still studying the examination material. In addition, a new summons was received on Thursday, October 19.

The case of alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo began when Polda Metro Jaya received a complaint on August 12, 2023.

Then the collection of information materials (pulbaket) was carried out by the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya based on a letter issued on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Not long after, the police issued an investigation warrant on August 21. A number of people were questioned, including Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

After the series of investigations were completed, investigators carried out a case title. As a result, a criminal element was found so that the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.
