The Kendari District Attorney has named the Head of the Kendari City Fire Department (Damkar) Abdul Rifai as a suspect in a suspected corruption case in the construction of a parking lot at Nambo Beach, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Head of Section (Kasi) Intel Kejari Kendari Bustanil N Arifin in Kendari Thursday, said that apart from the Head of the Kendari City Fire Department, his party also named one other suspect, namely Agus Julianto as Director of CV Subur Abadi Jaya.

The determination of the suspect is based on the results of the Kendari Kejari investigators' case against the alleged state financial loss to the construction of a parking lot on Nambo Beach.

"Based on the results of yesterday's case title, Abdul Rifai as PPK (commitment-making official), as well as KPA (budget user power) or also Head of the Kendari City Tourism Office and Agus Julianto as Director of CV Subur Abadi Jaya, related to parking land construction activities at the Nambo Tourism Beach, so the activity is in the 2021 fiscal year," said Bustil as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 19.

He explained, based on the evidence collected by the Kendari Kejari Investigation Team, two people were named as suspects for project work at Nambo Beach.

There was a state financial loss of around Rp. 400 million from the total budget of Rp. 1.3 billion.

"So indeed from the legal facts based on evidence, they are considered the most responsible for the emergence of state financial losses in parking space construction activities at the Nambo Tourism Beach," he explained.

Bustanil said that apart from the two new suspects, the Kendari Kejari had first named one suspect named Suparmin, as a borrower of the CV Subur Abadi Jaya company in March 2023. Where, the suspect Suparmin is currently undergoing trial.

"After we carried out the examination, based on the evidence we have collected, investigators argued that these two people, apart from the previous one, had carried out their activities on behalf of Suparmin as a company borrower, now as the owner of his company, the Director and PPK and KPA have also been named as suspects," said Bustanil.

It is known that the alleged corruption case that ensnared Abdul Rifai was when he (Abdul Rifai) was still the Head of the Kendari City Tourism Office.
