Regarding Firli Bahuri, Saut Situmorang Reveals Strong Signal For SYL Extortion Suspects

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Saut Situmorang, believes Firli Bahuri will be named a suspect in a series of cases of alleged extortion against Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL. Because, the indication of a violation is so strong.

"I have no any doubt about (I have no doubt about it at all). If I don't hesitate," said Saut after undergoing an examination at Polda Metro Jaya, Tuesday, October 17.

According to him, the violations allegedly violated by the KPK chairman were Articles 36 and 65 of Law Number 30 of 2002 concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission.

Meanwhile, Article 36 states that the KPK leadership is prohibited from having direct or indirect relationships with suspects or other parties who are related to corruption cases handled by the KPK for any reason.

Meanwhile, Article 65 concerning every member of the KPK who violates the provisions as referred to in Article 36, shall be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of five years.

"It is not allowed, in Article 36 of which 65 are sentenced to 5 years in prison if they meet with litigants," he said.

Then, Saut said that the handling of corruption cases involving SYL began with public complaints (Dumas) received by the KPK in 2021.

With the acceptance of the Dumas, the case handling process has begun.

"The question is, when did a case start I asked earlier. Yes, the case started not during the investigation, if you know that the investigation was in September 2023, right," he said.

"Community complaints start in 2021, right, 2021 and meetings between the Minister of Agriculture and all that kind of thing in 2022. The person concerned admits it is also 2022, meaning it is outside. So the case is, the case that is being handled begins when public complaints come in," continued Saut.

Meanwhile, the series of cases of alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo began when Polda Metro Jaya received Dumas on August 12, 2023.

With the complaint, the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya collected information on the basis of a statement collection order (pulbaket) issued on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Not long after, investigators issued an investigation warrant on August 21. At this stage, a number of witnesses were examined, one of which was SYL.

Then, after the series of investigations were completed, investigators carried out a case title. As a result, a criminal element was found so that the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.
