The Elekrification Trend Is Getting Faster, Chery Plans To Build A 5 EV Omoda In The Country

JAKARTA - The electrification trend, which is increasingly being welcomed by Chery, even this Chinese manufacturer has introduced its electric car, namely Omoda 5 EV some time ago at the GIIAS 2023 event.

It is reported that Chery also plans to build a model of its electric car in the country. This was revealed by Vice President Chery International, Shawn Xu.

He said his party was very excited about the Indonesian market because of its large population, as well as the understanding of technology very quickly.

"For the Omoda5 EV, we expect it to be held at the beginning of the year between January or February 2024," Shawn Xu told media crews participating in the Chery International Consumer Summit 2023 in Wuhu, China, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, October 17.

This step was taken not without reason, but to provide a more affordable price and not to rule out the possibility as an export market strategy.

"The localization of 40 percent is also to be able to get government incentives and not only that, we also hope that various vehicles assembled in Indonesia can also be sent to various destination countries," he added.

Not only assembling, but Chery also plans to develop a center for Research and Development (R&D) in Indonesia as a manifestation of the market in the country.

As is known, quoted from various sources that the Chery Omoda EV comes with a distance capacity of 450 km based on the testing of the World Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).

Meanwhile, the battery capacity is 61 kWh and is claimed to have a maximum power of 150 kW with torques reaching 340 Nm. For acceleration from a stationary position of up to 100 km/j, it is claimed that it only takes 7.8 seconds.
