Support Investigation Of Extortion Cases, KPK Invites Polda Metro To Check SYL

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) supports Polda Metro Jaya in investigating allegations of extortion by former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. They even invited the police to examine the NasDem Party politician.

This statement was made by KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata in response to the extortion case being handled by the police. This allegation dragged the head of the anti-corruption commission, which was allegedly the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.

"We also support the Regional Police. For example, later the Regional Police will need information from the suspects arrested by the KPK, of course we will facilitate," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, October 13.

Alexander ensured that it would not make it difficult for the Bhayangkara Corps to carry out its duties. "Please (check, ed). We will definitely facilitate it, we will coordinate it later," he said.

Selain itu, komisi antirasuah juga membantah penangkapan Syahrul adalah upaya untuk menghambat pengusutan dugaan itu. “Tidak ada perlombaan di sini,” ujar Alexander.

As previously reported, Polda Metro Jaya has examined 12 witnesses at the investigation stage for alleged extortion. Two of them are SYL and the Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar.

In addition, investigators will also examine an employee of the anti-corruption commission on Monday, October 16.

Then, investigators will examine Kevin Egananta. He is the ADC or an aide to the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.
