Jokowi: RI And Micronesia Share Their Roles In Facing Global Challenges

NUSA Dua - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that as fellow islands, Indonesia and Micronesia share real roles and contributions to facing global challenges.

"Especially for facing climate change, the blue economy, good marine governance, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals," President Jokowi said in a bilateral meeting with Micronesia Federation President Wesley Simina.

Meanwhile, in his delivery speech, President Simina expressed his appreciation for the invitation given by President Jokowi to Micronesia to attend the AIS Forum Summit this year.

"I personally want to congratulate you on the success of the AISHigh Level Meeting," he said.

President Simina also said that Micronesia and Indonesia have something in common. According to him, this is an attraction for Micronesia's participation in the AIS Forum Summit.

"I knew when I received an invitation in Micronesia, without hesitation I immediately accepted it because I wanted to join you in the field of marine protection because we have something in common, so I thank you for the invitation," he said.

Selain itu, Presiden Simina juga turut menyambut baik perkembangan yang ada dalam KTT AIS Forum dengan sepatuhannya empat prioritas kerja sama dalam deklarasi bersama para pemimpin AIS.

The declaration agreed by the 32 AIS participating countries also includes four priorities for future cooperation, namely climate mitigation and change, blue economy and ecotourism, handling marine plastic waste, and good maritime governance.

"The Federal Micronesian state welcomes the development that occurred at the AIS Forum wholeheartedly and appreciates the approach of the four pillars of the AIS Declaration centered on the marine," said Simina.
