Ministry Of PUPR Re-auction Of Gilimanuk-Menwi Bali Toll Road Project

BADUNG - Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) re-auctioned the Gilimanuk- Mengwi Toll Road Project in Bali, after about six months the road project connecting Badung, Tabanan and Jembrana had stalled.

"The existing progress, we are termination of the previous contract and will carry out an auction for the procurement of the Gilimanuk-Menwi Toll Road construction," said Director of Free Roads Obstacled by the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Triono Junoasmono, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.

Triono assured that the project would continue, with the auction target being held in November or at the latest by the end of 2023.

After obtaining a tender business entity, the Ministry of PUPR will sign a contract in mid-2024 so that construction is expected to resume in July 2024, while the land acquisition process will proceed from the beginning of 2024.

"We plan to carry out land acquisition after it is approved by the Ministry of Finance, we will carry out the target in early 2024," said Triono.

Now the national strategic project (PSN) is initiated by the government so that land acquisition funds are sourced from the government through the State Asset Management Institute (LMAN).

"For land that finances from the central government, but for physical development from business entities or investors. It has been calculated (land acquisition funds) of around Rp. 7 trillion to Rp. 8 trillion," said Triono.

Since they stated that they want to conduct a re-auction for the project that connects more than 50 villages on the Island of the Gods, according to Triono, many positive responses have emerged.

Although he cannot mention one by one, he hopes that all business entities can participate in the tender process when it starts later, and he hereby believes that the procurement of the Gilimanuk-Menwiakan Toll Road will continue.

This belief also emerged from the former Governor of Bali Wayan Koster who was present with the Ministry of PUPR to meet the village head whose territory was crossed by a toll route.

Koster admitted that he had a responsibility for the stalled project, because the toll road construction began when he took office.

He explained that at that time the Bali Provincial Government had ensured that the Gilimanuk-Bengwi Toll Road Project was running according to stages, starting from location determination, land measurements for toll routes, to laying the first stone on the Bali Provincial Government land.

"But apparently on the way there was a change in contractors joining the consortium so there was a process that made the work delayed. Now the ministry is re-trading the ministry to get more solid business entity partners," said Koster.

Hearing the explanation of the reason for the delay in road work, Koster reiterated the response of the village head, namely that they still support the project to continue, as an addition they will meet again to be given more information.
