2 Missing Fishermen Found Safe on Nusa Barong Island, Jember

JEMBER - The joint SAR team found two fishermen who were reported missing in Jember waters in safe condition on Nusa Barong Island, Jember Regency, East Java.

"It is true that our residents, Ebith Jefriyan (42) and Agus (30), both residents of Puger District, were reported missing on Saturday (7/10) evening to the Jember Water Police Unit (Satpolair)," said Puger Subdistrict Head Heru Widagdo, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.

According to him, the two fishermen went fishing using a speed boat on Friday (6/10) at 11.30 WIB and until Saturday (7/10) evening they had not yet returned home from fishing.

"The fisherman's wife finally reported the incident to the Jember Police Satpolair Office in Puger, so a joint SAR Team was searched by conducting land and sea searches," he said.

The joint SAR team from the Jember Water Police Unit, TNI AL, Basarnas, BPBD and Brandal Alas SAR Volunteers carried out SAR activities on Tuesday (10/10) or the third day of searching for the fishing boat that had lost contact.

"Thank God, the joint SAR Team succeeded in finding the two missing fishermen stranded on Nusa Barong Island, Puger District, safe and sound," he added.

According to him, the joint SAR Team evacuated the victims to the Outer Island Task Force Marine Command Post on Nusa Barong Island to provide initial aid by the Nusa Barong Island Task Force Marine doctor.

"Today the Outer Island Task Force has succeeded in evacuating two fishermen to Pancer Beach, Puger District to be taken to the nearest community health center (puskesmas) for treatment," he said.
