SYL Extortion Case, Metro Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto: Kombes Irwan Anwar Examined Today

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said the investigation of the Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar would be carried out today.

Kombes Irwan Anwar is one of the witnesses in the process of investigating the alleged extortion case by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL.

"If I'm not mistaken, today he called to attend. Today yes. Come or not, we'll see together," Karyoto told reporters, Wednesday, October 11.

However, Karyoto did not explain in detail the investigation of Kombes Irwan Anwar. It is only said that the progress of the investigation into the alleged extortion case will be conveyed further.

"Later, when fellow journalists ask the Directorate of Special Crimes, they will definitely answer what he has done, in terms of investigations and investigations," he said.

Even with the figure of the KPK leader who was reported to be suspected of extortion. Karyoto was reluctant to describe it at this time. The reason is that the matter will be open as the investigation process progresses.

"It will be seen that the results of the next investigation will be," said Karyoto.

Kombes Irwan Anwar was due to be questioned again regarding the alleged extortion case carried out by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL, which has now gone up to the investigation stage.

Previously, Kombes Irwan Anwar admitted that he had accompanied Syahrul Yasin Limpo to meet KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. The meeting is said to take place in 2021

"There has been in 2021, approximately in February, I was asked to accompany Pak SYL to meet Pak Firli," said Irwan.

At that time, the meeting of the two state officials discussed a cooperation agreement to prevent corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture. However, regarding the details of the conversation, Irwan claimed not to know about it.

"In order to build or create an MoU for cooperation in preventing corruption or assisting at the Ministry of Agriculture, in this case, corruption prevention is all I know," he said.

Asked about the alleged involvement as a person who handed over money from SYL to Firli Bahuri, Irwan firmly denied it. It said that when accompanying the former Minister of Agriculture, there had never been any submission.

"The handover of the money is not true, I have never felt it," said Irwan.
