DKI Provincial Government Speeds Up Completion Of Flood Control Projects

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is completing a number of flood control projects including river revitalization, lakes, reservoirs, reservoirs (SDEW) according to the Regional Development Plan for 2023-2026.

"The program is ongoing. Everything is as scheduled," said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono in the Jakarta Regional Budget Raperda for Fiscal Year 2024 at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Monday, October 9.

The DKI Provincial Government together with relevant stakeholders also continue to maintain controlling facilities and infrastructure as well as develop flood monitoring systems.

Intensive coordination, said Heru together with the central government and synchronization of priority land acquisition locations were also carried out to accelerate construction work by the Ministry of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR).

"As well as increasing the capacity of rivers through dredging mud in large rivers," said Heru.

Previously, DKI DPRD member Bastian P. Simanjuntak urged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to resolve 38 percent of the flood problems in Jakarta.

"There are still 38 percent of flood problems that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must solve together with the Central Government," Bastian said at the DKI Jakarta Regional Budget Raperda for Fiscal Year 2024 in Jakarta.

Bastian said that President Joko Widodo had also conveyed flood management including the construction of a number of flood control infrastructures in DKI Jakarta.

It is recorded that the infrastructure is able to solve the flood problem in several urban villages or about 62 percent of the flood problem in Jakarta until now and is expected to continue to increase.
