Gerindra Tangsel Supports Gibran As Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate, DKI Follows DPP's Decision

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Branch Leadership Council (DPC) of South Tangerang City (Tangsel) proposed that the Mayor of Solo as well as the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Gibran Rakabuming Raka become a candidate for vice president (cawapres) of the Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres).

Responding to this, the Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the DKI Jakarta Gerindra Party, Ahmad Riza Patria, emphasized that his party was following the decision of the Central Leadership Council (DPP) regarding the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying Prabowo Subianto.

"Yes, basically we DPD follow the DPP's decision," said Ariza in Jakarta, Monday, October 9.

Ariza explained that the DPD Gerindra DKI did not propose a specific name as Prabowo vice presidential candidate. He ensured that the DKI DPD would respect Prabowo's decision and the general chairmen of political parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) regarding the name of the vice presidential candidate.

"If we follow, we respect the decisions of Pak Prabowo and the coalition parties. So many have proposed from yesterday's volunteers,samawi volunteers have also proposed to Pak Prabowo that Pak Prabowo has answered, that what is conveyed will be forwarded to the leadership of the supporting party and will soon be held at the deliberation meeting," he explained.

According to Ariza, all the names in circulation have the same opportunity to become a duet pair for the defense minister in the upcoming presidential election. Including Gibran, who is the eldest son of President Joko Widodo.

"Of course, Mas Gibran has the same opportunities and potential, and good opportunities with other candidates. Like Mr. Airlangga, Mr. Erick Thohir, Mr. Yusril, there are those who propose Khofifah, there are those who propose Ms. Yenny Wahid, there are those who propose Mr. Gibran, all have the same opportunities," he said.

Previously, the South Tangerang City Gerindra DPC (Tangsel) proposed that Gibran be Prabowo's vice presidential candidate. The proposal was taken after the South Tangerang Gerindra DPC held a Branch Coordination Meeting (Rakorcab) in BSD, South Tangerang, Sunday, October 8.

Initially, the Chairman of the Gerindra DPC South Tangerang City, Li Claudia Chandra, said that the coordination meeting was aimed at increasing solidity between cadres and sympathizers.

"This Rakorcab was carried out to increase solidity between cadres and sympathizers in order to win Mr. Prabowo President and Gerindra to win in the upcoming 2024 election," Claudia said in South Tangerang, Sunday, October 8.

Claudia then revealed that the South Tangerang Gerindra DPC Coordination Meeting had produced recommendations in the form of Gibran's proposal to become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate.

"In this coordination meeting, we DPC Gerindra South Tangerang City provide recommendations, namely proposing Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka to become the vice presidential candidate for Pak Prabowo in the upcoming 2024 presidential election," he said.
