SYL Meets The President On Sunday Night At The Jakarta Palace, Jokowi: It Can Be Covered By The Media

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo said his meeting with former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) on Sunday night would be made openly for the media. The statement was conveyed by President Jokowi at the same time confirming his meeting with Syahrul Yasin Limpo which took place on Sunday night at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. "Yes, tonight," said President Jokowi when met after holding a Panen Raya in Subang, West Java, Sunday, October 10. Although he did not want to specify the discussion in his meeting later, Jokowi said that the media was allowed to cover publicly. "Yes, it's okay too," said Jokowi. The Head of State has also appointed the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi as Acting Minister of Agriculture, following Syahrul Yasin Limpo's resignation regarding the alleged corruption case that befell him. Therefore, President Jokowi does not want to convey Syahrul's replacement as the definitive Minister of Agriculture who will serve in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. "Yes, wong already exists. Already on the handle by Mr. Arief," said Jokowi. President Jokowi previously stated that he had received and signed SYL's resignation letter as minister of agriculture, following the alleged corruption case being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

KPK investigators on September 29, 2023 announced that they had raised the status of the alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture to the investigation stage. Although it stated that they had named a number of parties as suspects in the case, the KPK has not announced who the parties have been named as suspects because of the ongoing investigation and collection of evidence.
