IPW Urges Police To Completely Investigate 12 Firearms At Syahrul Yasin Limpo Official House

JAKARTA - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) has urged the National Police to thoroughly investigate the 12 firearms found by investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) during a search at the Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) official residence.

IPW chairman Sugeng Teguh Santoso asked the National Police to immediately investigate the findings of 12 firearms whose investigations are now being submitted to the National Police's Security Intelligence Agency (Baintelkam).

"The National Police must immediately explore the discovery of the firearms," said Sugeng, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, October 7.

Sugeng reminded the National Police not to rush into making statements about the alleged violation committed by Syahrul Yasin Limpo for the possession of the firearm.

Sugeng said the National Police must confirm whether the possession of firearms is accompanied by a permit or not.

"Before Baintelkam conveyed the results of the examination of the firearms, the National Police should not immediately declare any violations," he said.

According to Sugeng, the existence of these firearms could be collection items provided by certain parties.

Therefore, a thorough examination must be carried out. "This must also be investigated," he said.

Baintelkam Polri conducted an investigation regarding the findings of 12 firearms at the official residence of the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo by KPK investigators during a search on Monday (2/10).

"Regarding the 12 firearms that were searched by the KPK yesterday, currently all firearms have been secured at the National Police's Baintelkam, of course, they will be investigated, matched with data in Baintelkam," said Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan in Jakarta, Tuesday (3/10).

Ramadhan said the investigation into the findings of the 12 firearms was handled by the Directorate of General Crimes (Dittipidum) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
