Thousands Of Residents Evacuated In Tenerife Spain Evacuated Due To Forest Fire

The dangerous-varying forest fires forced more than three thousand residents to be evacuated from their homes on the island of Tenerife, Spain, according to authorities.

Tenerife Perez's head of state of emergency said the fire was developing rapidly and forced evacuation. He said although conditions improved on Thursday morning but the area was still not safe.

The fire was reportedly an active fire from a major forest fire that broke out in the same area in August which scorched 15 thousand hectares of land, and is the worst forest fire in Canary Island in 40 years and Spain's biggest fire this year.

Fires returned to action at the same time Tenerife and Canary Island Spanyil recorded record-breaking heat.

For the first time in Spain in October, authorities had to issue an orange warning for high temperatures in the Canary Islands this week. As of Thursday, there were still yellow warnings for hot temperatures in Tenerife and other islands.

The Spanish meteorological agency has confirmed that Tenerife broke the record for the hottest temperature in October on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 39.4 degrees Celsius.

With temperatures like summer across Canary Island and most parts of the Spanish peninsula, most of the country's territory is at an extreme risk of forest fires.

On Wednesday, the local government in Tenerife called for Spanish military assistance to control the fire, and on Thursday, 60 officers and 26 vehicles had joined forces to extinguish the fire.
