Said Aqil Claims To Have Special Closeness To Ganjar Pranowo

JAKARTA - Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure Kiai Haji Said Aqil Siradj admitted that he had a special close relationship with the presidential candidate from the PDI-P Ganjar Pranowo for a long time.

"My closeness has been quite long since I became a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and I pray to be elected as President of Indonesia later," Said Aqil Siradj said during a meeting with Ganjar Pranowo in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 5.

Said Aqil Siradj said Ganjar Pranowo's grandfather was a Nahdlatul Ulama figure, namely Kiai Haji Hasyim who served as Rais NU for two periods 1973 to 1983 in Purbalingga.

According to him, his closeness to Ganjar Pranowo cannot be said to be the support of Nahdlatul Ulama for the former Governor of Central Java for the two periods.

"It can't be said that yet," he said.

During the meeting, Said Aqil advised that if he was elected President, Ganjar Pranowo could continue the current Nusantara Islamic program.

"Islam Nusantara must be continued and if possible exported abroad," he said.

Meanwhile, Ganjar Pranowo said that his visit to the Luhur Al-Tsaqafaah Islamic Boarding School in Jakarta asked for advice from KH Said Aqil Siradj.

"I am not only asking for advice from the vice president, but also about the state and nation," he said.
