Kendari Basarnas Searches For 2 Fishermen Who Experienced Ship Leaks In Wakatobi Village Head

The Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team, Kendari Basarnas conducted a search operation for two fishermen who suffered a ship leak around the Karang Kapota Waters, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Muhammad Arafah said the identities of the two fishermen who had leaked the ship were not yet known. However, both are known to use the 708 Fisherman's Motorboat (KM).

"Two people use the KM Fisherman ship 708," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 4.

He conveyed that the ship leak experienced by the two fishermen was first informed by the people of Wakatobi Regency. Residents reported that there had been a ship accident in the waters of Karang Kapota at 21:20 WITA.

"He reported that there had been an accident on the KM Fisherman ship 708 with two people who had a leak in the waters of Karang Kapota," he said.

Based on the report, his party then dispatched the Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team to the accident site using a rubber boat to provide SAR assistance.

The distance from the accident site with the Wakatobi SAR Post is about 25 nautical miles.

In the search for the two fishermen, his party involved several personnel from the Wakatobi Police Air and Air (Polairud) using several equipment, namely rescue trucks, rubber boats, and other safety support equipment.

He also explained that the ship accident began when the two victims left Marina Wanci Pier with the aim of fishing around the Karang Kapota Waters at 13.00 WITA.

"At around 20.00 WITA, the ship had a leak in the lower part of the engine barn and caused water to enter the ship," said Arafah.tmoko.
