The panel of judges at the Medan District Court sentenced the defendant Rizal to nine years in prison in a case of selling 25 ecstasy pills or weighing 9.84 grams.
"The defendant Rizal was sentenced to nine years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Chief Judge Pinta Uli Tarigan when reading the verdict at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), Wednesday, October 4, which was confiscated by Antara.
From the facts of the trial, the panel of judges believed that the defendant was proven and guilty of committing a criminal act of Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.
"The aggravating thing is that the defendant does not support the government's program in eradicating drugs, while the mitigating thing is regretting his actions," said Pinta Uli.
After reading the verdict, the panel of judges gave the Public Prosecutor of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, the defendant's legal adviser and the defendant to accept or appeal the decision.
The judge's decision is the same as the demands of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office, Sri Delyanti (conform).
The indictment revealed that North Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate personnel received information from the public on Jalan Sei Belutu, Gang Karyawan, Medan Selayang often making transactions selling ecstasy pills.
After arriving at the location, the North Sumatra Police immediately arrested the perpetrator Rizal along with evidence of ecstasy pills. The perpetrator admitted that he got the ecstasy pills from Rawi (who is still under investigation) with a profit-sharing system.
