DKI Provincial Government Subsidies MRT And TransJakarta Rp4.3 Trillion Per Year

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government provides a public transportation subsidy of IDR 4.3 trillion per year with details of IDR 800 billion for Integrated Highways (MRT) and IDR 3.5 trillion for Jakarta Transportation (TransJakarta) to facilitate community mobility and optimize the use of mass transportation.

"The MRT is also still subsidized, a year Rp800 billion," said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono when he was a speaker at theHub Talk event initiated by the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Central Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 29.

"Likewise, TransJakarta also subsidizes so that people all want to use this transportation. The total is approximately IDR 3.5 trillion for the whole if people use TransJakarta," said Heru.

In the event entitled "Likes to Build National Connectivity", Heru explained that the MRT is currently still in progress. MRT transportation, said Heru, was first in Jakarta and was initiated by President Joko Widodo, who was then governor.

"Now it is a model in society. Hopefully people will continue to use the MRT, even though the target is approximately 1.3 million, but now 800 thousand people are using it per day," said Heru.

In addition, Heru also said that the convenience of transportation users for Jabodetabek residents is a top priority in building an integrated transportation system. For this reason, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government provides subsidies for financing by synergizing with the central government.

"Of course, the concept is based on the concept of planning from the Ministry of Transportation and synergizes with us. So, DKI Jakarta is 51 percent, then the Ministry of Transportation is 49 percent," explained Heru.

Similar to TransJakarta and the Indonesian Railway (KAI) which are also provided with subsidies for residents who want to use the transportation.

Heru explained that the current TransJakarta increase fee of Rp. 3,500 is a subsidy, if the economic value can reach Rp. 31,000. This subsidy is an effort to comfort and ease Jakarta's transportation.

Therefore, Heru asked people who ride public transportation in Jakarta to jointly maintain and care for the transportation. After the inauguration of the Jakarta-Bandung and LRT high-speed trains, it was seen that the upward trend in the use of public transportation in Jakarta increased by 3-3.5 percent.
