Forest And Land Fire Area In Baluran Situbondo National Park Reaches 88.66 Hectares

SITUBONDO - Balairan Situbondo National Park, East Java, reported that the area of forest and land fires (karhutla) in Mount Baluran, which is a natural tourism area, has reached around 88.66 hectares (ha).

Several points of forest and land fires in the mountains of the national park area, the asylum of the Banyuputih sub-district, have occurred since Monday (25/9). So far, the fire has not been successfully extinguished.

"So during the two days of the fire incident, namely Monday (25/9) to Tuesday (26/9) yesterday we reported 88.66 hectares of fire," said Public Relations of the Situbondo National Park Office, Joko Mulyono, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 27.

According to him, the area of forest and land fires in the national park tourist area is calculated for two days, while today his party has not been able to report it because dozens of officers are still trying to extinguish the fire at the location or on the mountain.

Joko explained that the officers had difficulty extinguishing the fire a little because apart from the gusts, the gusts were quite strong and the branches of trees and dry weeds were flammable, as well as the terrain to the location of the fire was quite steep.

"The wind avalanche was strong enough that the fire quickly spread and we have tried our best to extinguish the fire since it was discovered that the fire on Mount Baluran was discovered. Today's fire area cannot be reported because our colleagues are still at the location," he said.

The Nature Tourism Object of the Baluran Situbondo National Park is temporarily closed because road access is the only way for national park officers to operate and mobilize officers to deal with forest and land fires in the tourist area.
