Mahfud MD: Indonesia Ijtihad Products Of Ulama

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) is a product of ijtihad of scholars and other founding figures of the nation consisting of various backgrounds.

"Indonesia, which is based on Pancasila as a product of ijtihad, is in accordance with the Medina Charter, namely an inclusive and cosmopolitical state," he said when he was a keynote speaker at the National Halaqah of Islamic Boarding Schools held by the Islamic Boarding School Development Association and the Community (P3M), at the Al-Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, Purwakarta, West Java, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 23.

In front of this 1000 pesantren caregiver, Mahfud was asked to convey Fiqh Siyasah or Fiqh Politik themed; Strengthening Islamic Boarding School Independence for National Stability.

"According to Fiqh Siyasah, the country is the highest political organization for the Indonesian nation," said Mahfud.

Mahfud explained that the state, shape and system are free choices according to the needs of their respective nations or according to the needs of their respective customs.

"Ibnu Qayyim said that the law always changes, when the time changes the law changes," Mahfud explained.

The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, continued Mahfud, must be guarded, should not be discriminatory and should not consider other people who are different as enemies.

Mahfud emphasized that Indonesia, which is based on Pancasila as an ijtihad product of the ulama, is in accordance with the Medina Charter, namely an inclusive and cosmopolitic state.

"Terrulah Nabi Muhammad. Kalau baca 47 pasal dalam Piagam Madinah, isinya perlindungan kepada setiap orang bahkan setiap suku disebut, semua dilindungi, agama berbeda-beda, sukunya berbeda-beda, itu yang kemudian dituangkan di dalam konstitusi dan tata hukum Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia," tambah Mahfud.

Therefore, according to Mahfud, if the pesantren residents say the NKRI is a fixed price and Pancasila is a fixed price, it is true fiqh, because the formation of the Indonesian state is the result of the opportunity.

"Who is against the agreement according to Fiqh is called a bughat. Bughat is a rebel," Mahfud continued, reiterating that pesantren people should continue to participate in maintaining state sovereignty.

"From the Al-Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, let's all become Muhajirin people who migrate to Indonesia gold. Indonesia gold in Arabic is the baldatun thayyibatun wa rabbun ghofur," concluded Mahfud.
