The Joint Team Successfully Fired At Mount Jayanti Sukabumi

The joint team managed to extinguish a land fire on the slopes of Mount Jayanti, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"The fire has been extinguished since 03.00 in the morning," said Head of BPBD Sukabumi Wawan Godawan Saputra, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 23.

In order to extinguish the fire, the team joined to penetrate a fairly steep and manually steep terrain in minimal light conditions.

Wawan said that light white smoke was still visible around the location of the fire on Saturday morning. The smoke is thought to have come from a branch or trunk of a former fire tree.

"Sekarang sedang dilakukan pemantauan oleh tim di lokasi karena ada terlihat dua titik smoke membuap," ujarnya.

The Sukabumi Regency BPBD has coordinated with related parties to prevent land fires from happening again.

Manually handling operations are being pursued to ensure the fire can really be extinguished and does not leave any coal.

"Currently manual handling is being carried out by the forestry police team," said Wawan.

On September 22, 2023, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that a land fire occurred on the slopes of Mount Jayanti, Jayanti Village, Palabuhanratu District, Sukabumi Regency.

The fire was first discovered at 16.10 WIB by the Queen Port Disaster Management Officer (P2BK) team.
