Makassar Prosecutor's Office Arrests Fugitive Corruption Project Of A Library Building

The Makassar District Attorney's Office Fugitive Arrest Team managed to arrest a woman with the initials R, who is wanted in a case of alleged corruption in the Makassar Library building construction project in 2021.

"The suspect was found hiding on the ceiling of Alvin's brother who claimed to be the suspect's future husband," said Head of the Makassar District Attorney's Office Andi Sundari to reporters reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 21.

The arrest of the suspect at Bumi Pallangga Mas 1 Housing, Bontoala Village, Pallangga District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, early Thursday, was tense.

During the process of arresting the suspect, there was resistance from Alvin's side who deployed a number of thugs to obstruct the prosecutor's officers from causing tensions.

However, with the help of the Makassar Kejari Intelligence team and the Gowa District Attorney's Office as well as security from Gowa Police personnel, suspect R was finally able to be forcibly executed after being asked to get off the ceiling of the house, where he was hiding before being arrested.

"The investigative team can still secure and arrest the suspect. Early that day the suspect was immediately taken and secured at the Makassar Kejari Office," said Sundari.

Initially, suspect R was properly summoned three times to attend the investigator's examination, but later he was absent for various reasons until finally a letter of determination of the wanted list (DPO) was issued.

Based on the results of the calculation of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) of South Sulawesi Province, there was a state financial loss of around Rp662 million more for the participation of suspects in the library building construction project on Jalan Kerung-kerung Makassar in 2021.

"I emphasize, it is very clear that we were prevented from arresting the suspect. This was experienced by the team being prevented from entering the house, prohibited from seeing and in the end the team was able to enter and see the suspect hidden on the ceiling of the house. This barrier can be subject to Article 21 of Law 31 of 1999 with a penalty of seven years in prison," he explained.

Previously, the Makassar Kejari investigators had named three suspects in the alleged corruption case of the Makassar Library building construction project, each former Head of the Makassar City Library Service as well as Commitment Making Officer (PPK) Tenri A. Palallo, Director of CV Era Mustika Graha Mustakim as the executor of the activity, Ridhana's funds as the party using the CV company.

Funding for the Makassar City Library building construction project is budgeted for from a special allocation fund of more than IDR 7.8 billion in 2021. In the construction process, it was found that there was a discrepancy in the specifications and volume of the building with a budget plan, namely the difference in volume and the results of the analysis of material specifications and building quality reaching more than IDR 3.09 billion.
