Take Note! The 2024 Election Voting Abroad Will be Held Early

JAKARTA - Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said that the 2024 Election voting abroad will be held earlier than voting day, Wednesday, February 14 2024. So far, said Hasyim, the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) has proposed the voting day varies, but not too far from February 14, 2024.

"For abroad, it is early voting. Voting is earlier than voting at home. However, the vote count is the same day as the vote count at home," said Hasyim, in his statement, Thursday, September 21.

Hasyim revealed that the proposed voting day was Friday, February 9; Saturday, February 10, and Sunday, February 11.

Overseas voters will vote using three methods, namely the overseas polling place method (TPSLN) at Indonesian representative offices abroad, the mobile ballot box (KSK) method and the postal method.

"For abroad, there are those who propose Saturday, February 10, there are Sunday, February 11, in Arabian Peninsula or Islamic-based countries there are those who hold Friday, February 9 after Asr prayer time," he explained.

Furthermore, Hasyim said, sending ballot papers and other election logistics must be done one month or 30 days before voting day. Therefore, ballot papers for overseas elections must be sent by January 9-11, 2024.

"If that's the size, then 30 days before that means around January 9, 10, 11, that means postal ballots must have been sent," he stressed.

To facilitate logistics deliveries overseas, the KPU has created priorities, regions and estimated logistics delivery schedules. Priority I in the African region (16 PPLN), Latin America (11 PPLN), America (9 PPLN), Europe (29 PPLN) with an estimated delivery schedule of December 2-6, 2023.

Priority II in the South Asia (12 PPLN), Far East (8 PPLN), and Southeast Asia (7 PPLN) regions with an estimated delivery schedule on 6-16 December 2023. Priority III in the Middle East (15 PPLN), Pacific (11 PPLN) with an estimated delivery schedule of December 16-20, 2023.

Then, priority IV in the Southeast Asia region (10 PPLN) with an estimated delivery schedule of 20-23 December 2023.

It is known that the total number of overseas permanent voters (DPT) is 1,750,474 people with a total of 3,059 polling stations in 128 representatives in 95 countries. Of the number of polling stations, there are 828 overseas polling stations in representative offices, the mobile ballot box method is 1,579 polling stations, the postal method is 652 polling stations.
