Democrats Surrender If AHY Is Not A Vice Presidential Candidate For Prabowo Subianto

JAKARTA - Head of the Development Agency for the Cadreization and Membership Organization (BPOKK) of the Democratic Party, Herman Khaeron, said that his party did not insist too much on forcing the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as vice presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto.

The Democratic Party, said Herman, was resigned if in the end the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) did not choose AHY as Prabowo's companion in the 2024 presidential election.

"The opportunity (AHY became a vice presidential candidate) is not like the previous coalition opportunity. Because there is a historic journey, there is a journey together to fight. If this (now) enters the house or the coalition that has been built, therefore it really depends on other coalitions, if the coalition already has or has determined the vice president, yes of course we will just follow," said Herman in his statement, Tuesday, September 19.

However, said Herman, his party is still preparing AHY as Prabowo's vice presidential candidate if appointed by a political party in KIM. The Democrat Party, he said, would follow the flow that would be decided by all KIM political parties regarding the election for the vice presidential candidate.

"rationally, of course, we will follow up on the coalition agreement that has been built, and what has been conveyed to the general chairman," said Herman.

Furthermore, Herman said, the Democratic Party is no longer able to compete as in the Coalition for Change. According to him, in the Coalition for Change, the Democratic Party has strong bargaining because it participates in designing ideas to form a coalition that passes the presidential threshold.

"If this is true, we will enter the homes of people who already have residents, therefore rationally, of course, it really depends on the talks and how to collaborate on various programs, ideas, ideas, visions, missions that have been built so far by the Democratic Party according to the vision and direction of goals in the coalition," concluded Herman.

Previously, the Secretary General of the DPP Democratic Party Teuku Riefky Harsya revealed that AHY would announce the Democratic Party's support for Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

The announcement will be made in the agenda of the Democratic Party's national leadership meeting (Rapimnas).

"The official declaration for this decision will be conveyed by the Chairman of the Democratic Party AHY in the Democratic Party Rapimnas, Thursday, September 21, 2023, which was attended by thousands of Democratic Party officials from all over Indonesia," Teuku said in his statement, Monday.
